Protester-favourite forum LIHKG topped the list of top trending keywords this year in Hong Kong, while Carrie Lam and singer Junius Ho also cemented their places in the list.
The oddly-timed post for the city's carrier is not being well received by Hongkongers sharing it on social media. Reactions have been running the gamut from pity to outrage.
Though this video may have been intended as a tool to provide some common ground, it is not being received well by online users. Among some sparse support, many commenters posted variations on the slogan "All five demands must be fulfilled"
The ad in question was placed in the Japanese financial newspaper, The Nikkei (??????) on 19 August. The organisation Freedom HONG KONG said in a post on its official Facebook page that it had been notified of the nomination by The Nikkei yesterday.
