    Kayo Sports reports 16% growth in BBL streaming audience ahead of finals matches

    Kayo Sports is reporting a 16% growth year on year in streaming audiences from games 1-37 of the 2023/24 KFC Big Bash League ahead of the finals matches week.

    Viewership data from Kayo reported more than 558 million minutes were streamed across live action, pre and post-game coverage and short-form content, including Kayo Minis.

    Aaron Finch’s farewell had more than 170,000 Kayo subscribers streaming in to watch his final BBL innings against the Melbourne Stars on Fox Cricket – making it the #1 streaming audience of all time for a regular season game.

    Short-form viewership of BBL content is also booming with average views of Kayo Mini’s more than doubling compared to BBL 12 – up 112 per cent, according to the streamer. Meanwhile, Fox Cricket’s BBL highlights on social media have reached 56.2 million people and clocked more than 11.5 million engagements since the start of the season.

    Innovation continues to be a major focus of the Fox Cricket coverage this series with the introduction of Electro Stumps, a new technology that lights up LED stumps when a wicket is taken or a boundary is smashed.

    Matt Weiss, Fox Cricket’s general manager, praised the commentary team led by Adam Gilchrist and Mark Howard, alongside international broadcasters like Ravi Shastri, Ian Smith, Michael Vaughan, Isa Guha, Harsha Bhogle and Wasim Akram, calling them group “the backbone of our BBL season”.

    Finals begin tonight with pre-game coverage from 7pm as the Heat and Sixers clash in the Qualifier, while the Scorchers and Strikers will go head-to-head on Saturday in the Knockout fixture.

    This follows news of the launch of Kayo Sports 4K quality streaming option, set to be available from the end of February.

    Kayo Basic customers will have access to over 1000 hours of 4K content, starting with the season-opening Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix with every practice, qualifying session and race available in 4K.
