    Australian Open 2024 Commentators: Everything you need to know

    Nine has announced the lineup for the 2024 Australian Open, which is due to air “live and free” across Nine’s Channel 9HD and 9GemHD with streaming on 9Now

    The tournament kicks off on Sunday, January 14 with Nine’s Wide World of Sports covering all the action from the first round of matches with hosts James Bracey, Roz Kelly and Tony Jones, on 9Gem Emma Lawrence, Matthew Pavlich and Nick McArdle.

    Nine’s commentating team includes:

    Jim Courier 

    The American former world No. 1 player won four major singles titles, two at the French Open and two at the Australian Open, holding the record for the youngest man to reach the singles finals of all four majors at 22. He also won five master’s titles.

    John McEnroe

    Inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1999, McEnroe is remembered for his shot-making and volleying skills. He currently provides commentary for ESPN, CBS, NBC and USA at the US Open as well as at Wimbledon for the BBC in the UK.

    Jelena Dokic

    Dokic’s highest ranking as a tennis player was world No. 4 in August 2002 and in 1999 at Wimbledon, a 16-year-old Dokic performed one of the biggest upsets in tennis history, beating Martina Hingis. 

    Todd Woodbridge

    Woodbridge is amongst the most successful doubles players of all time, winning 16 Grand Slam men’s doubles titles, (nine Wimbledons, three US Opens, three Australian Opens and one French Open). He reached the World No. 1 doubles ranking in 1992. 

    Lleyton Hewitt

    Hewitt is a staple of Aussie tennis, being the former world No. 1 player and is still the most recent Australian man to win a major singles title, with two at the 2001 US Open and 2002 Wimbledon Championships. Throughout his career, he won 30 singles titles and 3 doubles titles. He retired from singles in 2016 and doubles in 2020. 

    Sam Stosur

    A former world No. 1 in doubles, Stosur held the ranking for 61 consecutive weeks. She also reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 4 in 2011, spending a total of 165 weeks ranked inside the top ten in the early 2010s. 

    Other commentators set to appear on Nine include Dylan Alcott, Casey Dellacqua, Sam Smith, John Millman, Alicia Molik, Brenton Speed and Peter Psaltis. 

    Additional off-court reporting will feature Clint Stanway, Danika Mason, Georgie Parker and Marlee Silva.
