Allison Miller has joined Reddit as chief information security officer and vice-president of trust. Miller arrives from Bank of America with the remit to oversee the safety and security teams at Reddit, and she will be responsible for expanding trust and safety operations and data security, as well as evolving programs to mitigate security challenges and risks. Miller will also redesign Reddit’s trust frameworks and transparency efforts to enable further growth across the platform.
Foursquare has today announced the appointment of Tim Castle as its regional head for South East Asia and Hong Kong. In his role, Castle will work closely with brands, agencies and advertisers in the region to further the expansion of Foursquare across South East Asia.
Kieran Donahue has joined the Ihop executive team as chief marketing officer. Formerly vice-president of brand, marketing and digital at Marriot, in this role Donahue will be responsible for driving Ihop’s marketing and culinary strategies, including oversight of advertising, digital innovation, communications, menu development and overall brand experience.
South Korean automotive giant Hyundai has named its former executive vice-president Thomas Schemera as its new chief marketing officer and head of the consumer experience division. Former CMO Wonhong Cho will now head up Hyundai Motor’s brand strategy support division. The brand says the switch will help optimize the carmaker’s organizational structure “with the most capable leaders in place“.
M&C Saatchi Group has announced two senior hires in the form of Mark Dickinson-Keen as chief people officer and Victoria Clarke as the group’s head of legal. The additions have been part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to drive meaningful change and enhance governance.
Grey Group has announced the appointment of Sharlene Wu as the new chief executive officer of Grey Group China. Wu was most recently chief exec of Proximity China, where she spent 13 years prior to making the move to Grey.
The incoming chief executive officer of UM Australia is Anathea Ruys. She has a 25-year international career in media business leadership and is currently executive vice-president and managing director of Carat West Coast and Mid-West USA, as well as the lead of Dentsu’s West Coast office.
72andSunny has named Damaune Journey as chief growth officer. With a background in engineering, Journey’s new role will see him cultivate global opportunities to help drive growth for 72andSunny and its affiliated companies.
As part of its investment in talent, MediaMonks Singapore has hired Joao Flores as executive creative director in South East Asia, Korea and Japan, supporting the organic growth of its business across the Asia Pacific region. Based in Singapore, Flores’s responsibilities are to develop creative partnerships with MediaMonks’ clients to strengthen disruptive positioning, to influence teams across the region with a growth mindset, and to ultimately elevate and the standards for creativity in the region.
The Doner Partners Network (DPN) has announced the hiring of Jeb Blatt as chief growth officer. Now entering its second year, the Detroit-based network is gearing up for an accelerated new business pipeline. In this newly created role, Blatt will play a pivotal part in overseeing the network’s strategic growth initiatives.
AKQA has promoted its former head of strategy and innovation in São Paulo, Luiza Baffa, to the role of managing director, and Renato Zandoná to executive creative director. Luiza and Renato will lead the São Paulo studio, its partnerships and client collaborations.
Global socially-led creative agency We Are Social has bolstered its creative and production offerings in the UK with a number of senior hires and promotions. Moves include former executive producer Jo Lumb being promoted to head of We Are Social Studios, the agency’s standalone production division, as well as new hire Danielle Melia joining from Leo Burnett. Melia takes on the role of creative director, focused on Lego, Kelloggs and Pringles. We Are Social has also hired Angharad Salazar Llewellyn as editorial director across its Lidl and Forevermark accounts.
The Washington Post has named Coleen O’Lear as its head of mobile strategy. In this role she will be responsible for creating a world-class app experience aimed at growing the Post’s audience and building stronger reader habits. The Post currently markets two news apps: the flagship Washington Post app and the visually-oriented Washington Post Select app. O’Lear will start in her new role by unifying these two into a single Post app, incorporating the lessons learned from several years of experimentation with the Select app into the flagship app.
Bauer Media Audio has appointed Charlie Brookes as chief revenue officer digital audio UK. In this newly created role, Brookes will deliver Bauer Media’s digital audio commercial growth strategy and report into Abby Carvosso, who was recently appointed director of commercial transformation.
Merkle has announced three new leadership positions on its technology team. These are Matthew Mobley, who has been named as executive vice-president and chief technology officer for the Americas; Pete Rogers, technology consulting leader; and Mark Engelke, growth officer.
Comcast company FreeWheel has announced the appointment of Yuling Ma as its new chief technology officer. In her new position, Ma will lead the development of FreeWheel’s technology platform and network operations, heading up the company’s global engineering team, which spans the United States, Europe and China. She will also play a vital role in accelerating the company’s strategy and vision.
