You may not be anywhere near the office water cooler right now, but we still want to spotlight the most talked about creative from the brands that should be on your radar. This morning, everyone is talking about Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney taking over Wrexham AFC and announcing it with a clever spoof ad for its sponsor – a trailer manufacturer.

Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are to sprinkle some Hollywood stardust on an obscure football team from north Wales after successfully negotiating ownership of the club.

Reynolds and McElhenney first set their sights on Wrexham last month after logging in remotely to share their vision for the club with supporters during a virtual meeting on 8 November.

Over the following days, supporters have been debating the merits of the takeover plan, with an overwhelming 98.6% of fans backing the vision set out by the big screen duo.

Warming to their new role, Reynolds and McElhenney have embraced their new position as club figureheads by posting a spoof advertising video for team sponsor Ifor Williams on Twitter, which has generated an incredible 4.4m viral views as fans adjust to the switch from cinematic trailers to trailers with wheels.

In the piece owner-elect, McElhenney tell a bemused audience: “Not sure what to get your special someone this holiday?“ To which Reynolds delivers the punchline: “Tired of them opening the same old scarf or sweater? Try Ifor Williams.... Trailers.“

Behind the scenes, moves are currently underway to officially transfer ownership to the power pairing with RR McReynolds Company LLC assuming 100% control of Wrexham Football Club subject to authorisation by the Football Association.

Wasting no time in showing their support both actors have also tweeted the club crest captioned ‘Wrexham is the name‘.

Reynolds is no stranger to harnessing humour to gain attention having paired up with frenemy Hugh Jackman just last week in a concocted argument designed to promote their commercial and charitable interests.

Reynolds- owned Aviation Gin has made a name for itself with attention-grabbing stunts such as the Deadpool star extolling the virtues of a home bar to circumvent social distancing measures. These initiatives have been masterminded by Maximum Effort Productions, the agency founded by Reynolds in partnership with former McCann creative George Dewey.
