A new council has been formed, comprising of senior executives from major media businesses, as part of the Singapore government-led Singapore Media Festival.

The Media International Advisory Council will convene annually as part of the festival and the inaugural group features execs from Disney, Netflix and Formula One Group.

The full list of names include; Alvin W. Sariaatmadja, president director of PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (Emtek), Bill Holmes, chief business development officer of Netflix, Chase Carey, chief executive officer and executive chairman of Formula One Group, Chatri Sityodtong, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of One Championship, Dr Gong Yu, founder and chief executive officer of iQIYI, Janice Lee, managing director of PCCW Media Group, Joe Ravitch, co-founder and partner of Raine Group LLC, Li Ruigang, chairman and chief executive officer of CMC Capital Group, Robert Gilby, founder and chief executive officer of Blue Hat Ventures, Uday Shankar, president of The Walt Disney Co. (APAC) and Vivek Couto, executive director of Media Partners Asia.

The task of the group will be to “exchange views and develop insights on how the region’s media companies can respond to the rapidly evolving media landscape”.

The group will be chaired by the minister for communications and information and the minister in charge of cybersecurity? S.Iswaran and the 11 members will be selected for the next two years. 

The Singapore Media Festival, in conjunction with the Singapore Government Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), takes place across Singapore between 21 November and 8 Dec and is held to celebrate the best of Asian storytelling.

The IMDA often partners with private businesses to boost content efforts in Singapore, and last year opened a fund for public service broadcast content alongside Mediacorp.
