JJ Eastwood has left Rakuten Marketing as managing director of Asia-Pacific to join Singapore-based consumer marketplace Carousell. At Carousell, Eastwood is the managing director in charge of advertising.
Eastwood has extensive experience working in Australia for companies like Huffington Post, Rocket Fuel, eBay and Microsoft.
Following his departure, Anthony Capano has been promoted to managing director of international at Rakuten Marketing. His mandate expands from his current Europe, Middle East and Africa role to all territories outside the United States and Japan, including Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
Capano was previously managing director of Asia-Pacific. During that stint, he launched Rakuten Marketing in Australia and facilitated the expansion of the company across the the greater Asia-Pacific region.
Commenting on Capano’s promotion, Rakuten Marketing CEO Nick Stamos said: “As more of Rakuten Marketing’s Europe, Middle East and Africa clients expand operations to the Asia-Pacific region, this appointment allows for the international operations to unify under one leader.
“Anthony’s understanding of the e-commerce industry in the EMEA and APAC regions, coupled with the growth he has driven for both Rakuten Marketing and our clients over were recognised as perfectly suited to naturally progress Rakuten Marketing’s international business.”
Capano said: “It’s been fantastic to watch the Asia-Pacific business continue to go from strength-to-strength and I’m thrilled to be back, involved with the market.”
