Scott Spirit has been appointed the chief growth officer and board director at S4 Capital. In his new role at S4 Capital, he will focus on clients, mergers, acquisitions and investor relations and be based out of the agency’s recently opened Singapore office.

This marks a resumption of a working relationship between Spirit and S4 Capital executive chairman Sir Martin Sorrell. Spirit was with WPP for nearly 15 years and his last held designation was chief strategy officer and chief digital officer for Asia-Pacific. He was also a director of Nairobi-listed WPP-Scangroup PLC.

He left in July last year to join artificial intelligence company Eureka AI as managing director for business development. Even after his exit, he was due to answer questions in a suit filed by now-defunct digital agency Yolk against the WPP-owned Grey Group in August last year, for alleged “oppressive acts”. The case was settled before he was called to the stand.

Spirit’s previous experience includes working for Deloitte and Associated Newspapers. He will hold 135,292 ordinary shares in S4 Capital plc and will continue to be a board member and advisor at Eureka AI

It has been a busy recruitment season for S4 Capital and its agencies in the region. Last week, S4 Capital owned MediaMonks announced a trio of new hires. These included former APD CEO Tobias Wilson as MediaMonks Asia-Pacific vice president of growth; Sanne Drogtrop as executive producer of MediaMonks Shanghai and Erick Alonso as business director for Asia-Pacific.

Another WPP alum who has been hired at S4 Capital is Elizabeth Buchanan who comes on board as non-executive director. Buchanan was a division head reporting to the CEO at WPP Australia and New Zealand and left the organisation in 2010. She has subsequently worked with OMD and is executive director at martech firm Rokt.

Speaking about Spirit and Buchanan’s appointments, S4 Capital executive chairman Sir Martin Sorrell said: “I’m delighted to re-unite with Scott and to welcome him and Elizabeth to the team. I know that Scott’s proven knowledge of global markets will be invaluable as we continue to expand the business technologically and internationally.

“Elizabeth has rare global experience at the forefront of innovation in the industry and that makes her an obvious choice for a disruptive, purely digital business like S4Capital.”

Scott Spirit said: “I’m looking forward to working with the teams at MediaMonks and MightyHive and building on their impressive early success. It’s a time of great change in the advertising industry and I’m excited to join a company which is so well- positioned, ambitious and optimistic about the future and the solutions we can deliver for our clients.”
