Director and visual artist Andrew Thomas Huang has joined production company Serial Pictures for American representation in commercials, branded entertainment and music videos. He has worked with Bjork, Thom Yorke, Perfume Genius, and British director Joe Wright, and has helmed commercials for global brands such as Lexus and Samsung. His most recent project is the music video for “Cellophane” by FKA Twigs as well as his short film “Kiss of the Rabbit God,” which recently made its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Biscuit Filmworks has signed filmmaker Justin Kurzel to its directorial roster in the U.S. and U.K. Kurzel is currently wrapping post-production on his feature film “The True History of the Kelly Gang,” a biopic of the Australian outlaw Ned Kelly starring Russell Crowe. His previous features include “Assassin’s Creed” starring Michael Fassbender and Jeremy Irons and “Macbeth” starring Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. His commercial work includes the 2018 PSA “Stop the Horror” for Go Gentle Australia, which chronicled the brutal last days of a terminally ill man in a successful effort to change the country’s laws on voluntary assisted death. It won a Gold Cannes Lion for Film Craft—Directing.
Anonymous Content is opening a London commercial production office, appointing Tor Fitzwilliams as managing director and executive producer. The office will offer the U.K. access to its talent pool of directors including Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Alfonso Cuarón, Armando Bo, Autumn de Wilde, Brett Morgen, Cara Stricker, Chris Sargent, Daniel Kaufman, Dee Rees, Grant Singer, John X. Carey, Johnny Green, Malcolm Venville, Mark Romanek, Pantera and Tim Godsall. Fitzwilliams brings 15 years of production experience. She originally began her career at production company Blink, then joined Smuggler London as head of sales, before moving to Smuggler New York to head up their East Coast sales. In 2015, she returned to London as executive producer at Stink Films.
Hey Wonderful is adding comedy director Brad Lubin for representation for commercials in North America. Born in D.C. and based in Los Angeles, Lubin has spent the first few years of his directorial career focused on projects out of London. He earned two British Arrow nominations this year for House Simple “Neighbors” (via The&Partnership London, and another for Burger King “Act of History” via BBH London. He has also received nominations for the D&AD Next Director Award and a Cannes Young Director award.
Saville Productions has added Michael Bernard for U.S. branded entertainment representation. The director and cinematographer has worked for brands such as Land Rover, Victoria’s Secret, Tresemmé, Benjamin Moore and Aveeno. He honed his craft in music videos as a cinematographer shooting artists such as Missy Elliot, Shakira, Madonna, Tom Petty and The Rolling Stones.
Argentinean director Diego Nuñez Irigoyen has signed with Knucklehead for representation. He has directed for brands including Toyota, Unilever, Ikea and Samsung and has won Cannes Lions for work such as social experiment “Almost Identical” for Beldent/Trident gum, Andes' “The Fairest Night of All,” Tulipan's “Clean Talk” and BGH's “Big Noses.”
Nexus Studios has added director Laurie Rowan to its roster for worldwide representation. Rowan specializes in animating for television and game design, working for clients including the CBBC, British Museum, Sony and Channel 4. In the last two years his Instagram feed has led to commissions with Droga 5, Collins and Liverpool’s FACT Gallery. His work “Inter_Faces” is currently headlining the Pictoplasma festival in Berlin.
Hound has added directors Marc Klasfeld and Mark Pellington to its roster. Hound will rep Klasfeld for exclusive commercial and music video representation in the U.S. and Pellington for exclusive music video representation in the U.S. Klasfeld has helmed music videos for artists including Katy Perry, Jay-Z, Britney Spear, Sia, and Aerosmith and commercial work for brands including Target, Nike, NFL and Reebok. Pellington’s work includes music videos for artists including U2, Pearl Jam, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, The Dave Matthews Band, Demi Lovato and Imagine Dragons.
JOJX is adding director Michael McCourt to its roster for exclusive commercial and music video representation in the U.S. McCourt’s recent brand work includes projects for Bose, Buick, Spectrum, Budweiser and Crayola, and he has also worked in the fields of film, music video and episodic television.
Creative studio Ntropic is opening a London office, in addition to its offices in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Leading the office will be executive creative director Aidan Gibbons and executive producer Laura Livingstone. Gibbons joins from The Mill in London where he served as director and 3D supervisor on work for brands such as Bentley, Huawei, Guinness and BT. Livingstone is returning to her native Europe after working at Ntropic SF as head of production, and prior to that at several entertainment FX companies including Zoic Studios.
Commercial production company Picture Farm is opening a German office in Berlin, led by executive producer Andreas Von Lintel. Von Lintel brings over three decades of experience in production across print, film and digital to this new role, having collaborated with clients such as Apple, BMW, Cartier and Vogue. The Berlin office is in addition to offices in London, New York, Los Angeles, Barcelona and Madrid.
Cutters Studios has promoted Heather Richardson to executive producer and Patrick Casey to head of production in its Chicago office. Richardson joined Cutters in 2015, after working as a producer for visual effects studio A52 and for editorial company Cosmo Street in both L.A. and New York for more than ten years. On behalf of Cutters, she has produced Super Bowl spots for Lifewtr,, Nintendo and WeatherTech. Casey has produced work including the Always #LikeAGirl campaign, Budweiser's "Harry Caray's Last Call" and Whirlpool's "Care Counts" campaign.
Audio post production company Heard City has hired Seth Phillips as mixer/sound designer in its New York City office. Phillips has 17 years of experience spanning music, mix and sound design. He started his career at Sound Lounge where he worked his way up from Intern to music director and worked on a campaign for Spotify that won a D&AD Yellow Pencil in 2018.
