Publicis Groupe has raided Dentsu for talent to run its data wing Publicis Spine in the UK. Karl Weaver, who previously served as the chief executive of Isobar, takes up the same post at Publicis Spine.

The network said he will be tasked with "unifying" data assets, tech and talent in the UK group. Furthermore, he will build a strategy around three tenets, customer analysis, building the Publicis PeopleCloud and harnessing the group's talent more effectively for clients. 

Weaver reports to Annette King, chief of Publicis UK and former Ogilvy UK chief, who announced a new leadership team at Publicis in October.

King said: "I am delighted Karl is joining our senior team in this key role as he has the background, expertise and unique blend of skills to lead and evolve Publicis Spine to the benefit of our clients, talent and partners here in the UK.”

Weaver added: "The Publicis Spine proposition is unique in the marketplace, making an analytical understanding of consumers a fundamental building block of the offer, rather than a bolt on. This is a transformative approach and has huge potential for both clients and the business as a whole.”

The UK group alone boasts 5,500 employees and 32 agency brands.
