This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.
Peugeot has hired Martin Mall as UK marketing director. Prior to his move to Peugeot, Mall was European marketing director at Nissan.
He will replace Mark Pickles, who is moving to Peugeot’s Group Free2Move Lease business as commercial director.
Tesco has hired Dunnhumby managing director Matt McLellan as customer propositions director. This move follows his predecessor Toby Horry’s departure last week.
BWP Group has appointed Havas Helia chief commercial officer Claire Halsey as managing director to oversee day-to-day agency management and drive growth.
BWP has recruited Halsey to lead the creation of process and efficiencies required for the agency’s expansion, mentor the senior leadership team and take a key role in new business acquisition.
Iotec Global has appointed media industry veteran Eric Newnham to its executive board of directors.
As a member of the group’s executive board of directors, Eric will bring extensive industry experience with first-hand knowledge of entrepreneurship and acquisitions.
BBH has added to its growing brand experience team with the promotion of Ross Mawdsley to creative director - brand experience, and the appointment of Dan Williams as Creative Director - UX.
Mawdsley’s role will be to oversee and help shape BBH’s brand experience offering as a whole. He will be joined by Williams.
Digital customer experience agency, Tangent, has appointed four people to its senior leadership team.
Andy Eva-Dale joins the company as technical director, Sam Ladlow has been hired as associate creative director, Caroline Goodwin has been appointed head of delivery and Roberto Cervantes has been hired as head of project management.
Tug has appointed alumni Ollie Vaughan as its new chief media officer, Asher Gordon as head of biddable media and Christian Jones as commercial director.
In his new role, Vaughan will be primarily responsible for developing Tug’s marketing strategy as the company looks to expand globally. Gordon will lead on Tug’s biddable media offering and collaborate with all parts of the agency to ensure excellent results for its clients.
Jones will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities in the media, creative and technology space working closely with the company’s C-suite.
Highsnobiety has named Herbert Hofmann the new creative director, commerce.
In this newly established role, Hofmann will lead creative content for Highsnobiety’s new e-commerce platform, set to launch in 2019.
Proximity London has hired strategist Ben Tan as head of strategy to lead and oversee the agency’s growing strategy department.
He has joined the agency as an equity partner to help grow and shape the start-up.
Eight&four has appointed Lucy Walker as its first audience director. Joining from Starcom, Walker will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of all of audience first strategies for the agency.
The consultancy has announced three new partner hires. They are Yu Huang, FeiFei Xu and Dan Vasconcelos.
Huang joins Prophet’s Shanghai office, bringing over 15 years of industry experience to the firm, while Xu joins Prophet as an associate partner in the Shanghai office and Vasconcelos will join Prophet as associate partner and creative director in Hong Kong.
The experience agency has appointed John Steere as managing director for China. In the new role, Steere will be responsible for helming Imagination’s continued growth across China, in addition to leading the company’s ongoing commitment to the innovation of technology-enabled brand experiences.
The full-service global performance media marketing unit of IPG Mediabrands in Malaysia has promoted Afif Azman and Thanendran Thanesvaran.
Afif will be taking over the role as group technology director of Reprise, providing cutting edge technology solutions for Reprise and managing the team. A digital transformation specialist, Afif has been with the IPG Mediabrands group for almost three years.
Thanendran has been promoted to group commercial director of Reprise, to handle and grow new business.
The agency has appointed Drew Klonsky executive director for business transformation. He will work with the agency’s interdisciplinary team of consultants, experience designers, strategists and branding specialists across its Sydney and Melbourne offices.
The Dentsu Aegis Network-owned creative agency has appointed Rhys Taylor to join the business as head of strategy for Asia Pacific. In addition, Tim Micallef will take on the role as media business director for Australia and New Zealand.
In his new remit, Taylor will oversee gyro’s strategic and planning capabilities and be tasked with driving gyro’s digital strategy and solutions across its offices in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia.
Micallef will helm the media product in Australia and previously held the role of account director at Ikon Communications,
Clemenger BBDO Sydney
The agency has welcome Sacha Zivanovic as group account director. She joins from Anomaly NYC where she spent five years working on accounts including Google, P&G, Hershey, PepsiCo and Panera.
J. Walter Thompson
J. Walter Thompson India has announced senior leadership changes, after Rajesh Gangwani, head of JWT Mumbai, moved out to explore other avenues.
Kishore Tadepalli has taken over as the head of JWT Mumbai, with Kundan Joshee taking over from Tadepalli as the head of JWT Bengaluru.
Leo Burnett Chicago
Chris Bergen has been named executive vice president, business director at Leo Burnett Chicago. Bergen joins the agency from We Are Unlimited, where he oversaw business leadership, new product launches and communications for the McDonald’s brand.
WeQ, a global mobile ad tech organization, announced the appointment of seasoned digital marketing expert and tech-driven entrepreneur Sven Lubek as managing director. Lubek will shift from WeQ chairman to active director, focusing on mobile ad technology innovation and new product development, as well as driving the continued commercial success for WeQ.
Publicis Media’s global Commerce Practice announced Amy Lanzi as its regional commerce lead in Americas. She comes from Omnicom’s retail marketing agency TPN, where she oversaw the agency’s east-coast-based business.
PR agency Rox United, of United Collective, announced the appointment of Lisa Ruiz-Rogers to managing director. Ruiz-Rogers will oversee all public relations and activations for the agency, managing communications plans for the California Milk Processor Board (got milk?), Nike, Sundial, Domino’s and other clients; and play a key role in new business efforts.
In Good Co
In Good Co, the culture-conscious brand consultancy that aligns people and organizations around a purpose, has added Amanda Noviello as director of production.
Noviello will work with the consultancy’s clients including Pinterest, Belcampo, and Creative Alliance.
Cherie Davies has joined FCB as senior vice president, group creative director. In this role, she will report directly to Liz Taylor chief creative officer of FCB Chicago, and will lead all creative work with FCB Chicago’s health and wellness clients.
Prior to joining FCB, Cherie worked at a variety of agencies including Sudler & Hennessey, greyhealth and Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare across a broad portfolio of global brands whose work has been recognized at Clio Health, One Show, Creative Floor and the New York Festivals Global Awards.
World Surf League
The World Surf League (WSL) announced that Erik Logan will join as president of content, Media and WSL Studios. Logan’s role at the WSL will include the delivery of all live and non-live content and media, in addition to global distribution across all the WSL’s owned and operated channels, as well as its partners.
Logan will also oversee the creation of WSL Studios, which will deliver a broad range of high quality scripted and unscripted surf and lifestyle content. He will also lead a new direct-to-consumer membership offering, which will in the future become a key aspect of the WSL’s world class content portfolio.
Milwaukee-based independent agency Laughlin Constable (LC) has announced the hiring of Lisa Bennett as its new chief creative, replacing the ousted Dan Fietsam.
Bennett was previously at Dallas indie TM Advertising, where she spent three years in the top creative position. She also held roles as North American creative lead for DDB Worldwide, and as chief creative of DDB San Francisco.
Praytell, a Brooklyn based creative communications agency, announced the hiring of Scott Schneider as chief creative officer.
Schneider joins Praytell from Ruder Finn, where he was chief digital officer managing RFI Studios, the agency's creative and digital arm. With over 20 years experience leading creative first teams, he’s spearheaded innovative design and content-driven programs for blue chip clients and leading institutions including Subway, Bayer, Nokia, Amgen, Home Depot, Michael J. Fox Foundation, Citi and more.
