The Players’ Tribune (TPT) teamed up with Amazon Prime Video  for a first-of-its-kind collaboration to support the launch of their upcoming series, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan available August 31 exclusively on Prime Video.

In this partnership, TPT is producing immersive video content from Prime Video’s Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan experience at San Diego Comic-Con, featuring WWE superstar and UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey, Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Joel Embiid and San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman.

Based off the Amazon Prime adaptation of the Tom Clancy novels, each of the athletes will also put their abilities to the test as they step into the world of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, at the activation at San Diego Comic Con. They embark on challenges such as the Jack Ryan Training Field, a hyper-reality 4D virtual-reality spy experience that tests the mental and physical strength of each athlete, putting them in a variety of scenarios, including riding a zip line, navigating a balance beam and driving a speeding car. The athletes also have to escape from a room in the Dark Ops adventure, a first-of-its-kind experience which recreates a scene from the pilot episode of the new show.

Each of the videos will be featured on TPT, Prime Video, and the athletes’ social channels leading up to the debut of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on August 31.

Jeff Levick, chief executive of The Players’ Tribune said in a statement: “This is TPT’s first major studio collaboration, and the content gives fans a firsthand look at one of the most anticipated shows this year from the perspective of three incredibly talented and dynamic athletes. Prime Video’s Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Experience will be a highlight of this year’s Comic-Con, and we are thrilled to collaborate with Amazon, a true leader and innovator, to amplify their upcoming series. Joel, Ronda and Richard all certainly have their own unexpected hero stories, so the video content will be truly authentic, and aligned with Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’s theme.”

Amazon Studios head of marketing Mike Benson added: “The essence of Prime Video’s upcoming series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is a story about an analyst who in the most unexpecting circumstances rises to heroic measures to keep his country safe. There are heroes among all of us and what better way to tell these stories then through the lens of these incredible athletes. We’ve created an opportunity with TPT for these athletes to be themselves, tell their story in their own words, have fun, and also invoke friendly competition amongst themselves.”

This first-time experience follows another first for The Players Tribune. During the Fifa World Cup, the athletes-first publisher put out a series of articles from international athletes such as Raheem Sterling. In a recent conversation with The Drum, the publication spoke about their history, push into international waters, and the potential to introduce other video offerings and streams of revenue.
