Man ‘killed by exploding mobile phone’ By Faris – August 19th, 2010
A man has been killed in India after the mobile phone he was using exploded.
According to the Times of India, 23 year-old Gopal Gujjar, suffered serious injuries to his right ear, neck and shoulders. His body was found along with the remains of the phone and its battery near his farm in Banda village, Kota, located in the northern state of Rajasthan.
The police believe that he was “killed by the mobile” after they discovered pieces of his Nokia 1209 handset, a basic model released in August 2008, scattered nearby.
It’s believed the victim had gone into a forest to manage his grazing cattle around noon and his body was only found later in the night. There were no witnesses to the tragic incident but it was assumed that he was talking on the phone before it exploded.
This is probably the first such incident in India where a man has died due to a mobile phone explosion while the phone was not being charged.
In January this year, a 27-year-old housewife in Kadapa, India, was killed by a blast caused by a Chinese-made handset she was talking on while simultaneously charging the device.
Deaths caused by mobile phone explosion have been reported in other countries such as China and Nepal.
my comments:
my first thoughts on a cursory glance through this news bite is come on, this cannot be true, is this somebody's idea of a sick joke with the most unpalatable taste?
but when it sunk in, this piece of news has certainly freaked me out! think about it - a person killed by his mobile phone, how gross! and how sad a most untimely death.
and what we take for granted, and cannot do without, the ubiquitous mobile phone can be an additional risk to our health (notwithstanding the constant on-going issue of whether radiation from using a mobile phone over a prolonged period is detrimental to our health) and may even kill us.
therefore, as every life is precious, my role as an ifa remains even more challenging in my mission to convert unbelievers, the majority of whom are in the younger age group to do wealth protection planning.
why?
because these unbelievers belong to the so-called pink of health category and usually do not 'see' any urgency to do wealth protection planning.
and based on this year, this is a fulfilled prophecy because all of my prospects/referrals who do 'see' the need to take up insurance but unfortunately, this group of folks may have left it too late because of their medical history and or medical conditions and hence, may have lost their passport or what i term as insurability to be admitted into the insurance world. |
